KS3 at Thomas Middlecott Academy in Kirton, Lincs get to grips with archaeology!
Yesterday Enrichment, in the form of Ian and I, were at Thomas Middlecott Academy in Kirton (Lincs) where we took part in their Enrichment Week.
We ran a total of 8 workshops between us during the day covering a range of archaeological skills – some of which the children didn’t know they already had! We worked on excavation, drawing and photography, aretfact analysis and that old favourite stratigraphy!
As a skills based workshop we thought we’d introduce the children to the idea of creating a record of the skills they are developing in a similar way the those identified for undergraduates. More on these can be found here (Archaeology Skills/). It was good to see that many of the children really engaged with the day and enjoyed their time as archaeologists!
We’d like to thank the staff and children for making us feel welcome and we look forward to going back!
