Introduction

A whole day tour travelling around the Peak District visiting some of the most interesting and indicative sites from a wide range of periods

Background

People have made their home in the Peak District for 1000s of years and they have left their mark across this beautiful landscape. This tour takes in some of the most iconic as well as lesser known sites from prehistory, the Roman period, and the medieval and post-medieval periods. Transport will be provided throughout the day, starting and finishing in Buxton.

When?

This tour is available on request. Please contact us if you have any questions or to make a booking.

What Does The Day Involve?

You will be picked up from and dropped off at a central point in Buxton. We will then spend the day travelling through a landscape that has seen human activity over thousands of years, stopping at a number of sites and thinking about these questions:

  • What’s the story here?

  • How is this typical of the period in question?

  • How does this reflect the past?

Each day will have a maximum of 7 participants and will involve driving and walking short distances at each stop.

We will stop at a pub for lunch en-route for you to enjoy our warm and welcoming Peak District hospitality.

The Cost

The cost for the day is £85 per person.

Tea, coffee and snacks are included in the price.

Lunch is not included.
